Alaska is known by many names; The Last Frontier, The Great Land, and The Land of the Midnight Sun. In 2008, it will also be known as the location of the Council of State Governments West 2008 Annual Meeting!
The Host Committee for the 2008 Annual Meeting welcomes you to Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, nestled between scenic Turnagain Arm and the spectacular Chugach Mountains.
The 2008 meeting will provide you an opportunity to participate in a variety of sessions geared towards the issues affecting our Western region. We have a number of excellent meetings and activities planned that will provide educational opportunities as well as let you share your knowledge and experiences with others.
In addition, the city of Anchorage and the nearby areas offer attendees the opportunity for world-class wildlife viewing, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities. Bring your family, as there will be a full program of activities for the kids. With Alaska’s late sunsets (Anchorage averages 18 hours of sunlight in July) you’ll have more daylight hours to explore Anchorage and its nightlife opportunities.
We encourage you to take this opportunity to attend the 2008 CSG Annual meeting for the important content that will be provided, as well as the opportunity to network with other State leaders on important issues affecting the West. The fact that you’ll be able to visit ‘The Land of the Midnight Sun’ will just be a bonus.
